UCSF Science and Friendship Program: Chile

In 2002, the Fundación Ciencia Para La Vida and University of California at San Francisco established joint research activities in Santiago, Chile. The goal of the program is to build a sustainable, multifaceted partnership that will serve as a model for scientific interaction across national boundaries.

In November, 2006 we attended the 2nd Annual Science and Friendship: the North Meets the South Symposium as a part of this ongoing partnership. We then extended our trip to explore southern Chile and Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, and La Serena and smaller communities in the north. This book describes our first-hand experiences in Chile, and was first published online in a blog format. Nate is the primary author, and Julie the primary photographer.
